It's 25 years ago today that the Challenger space shuttle exploded on its way out into space. I remember watching the launch on TV as I was such a space junkie as a child and Dad was sittning next to me, watching it too. When the explosion came, I asked him: "Is it supposed to do that?" and his answer was "No, not really". It's a very clear memory for me as I had a dream of becoming an astronaut when I was young and that dream died a little then. And it's also a very clear memory because I remember Dad trying to explain to his 7 year old daughter why things like this happen. He must have done a good job though as I'm still as fascinated by the launches and the space trips today as I was then, and now there's only 3 more trips left for the three remaining shuttles; Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavor.
